Interim Assessments Released

On June 10, 2015 the U.S. EPA provided its interim evaluations of the seven Chesapeake Bay jurisdictions’ and federal agencies’ progress towards meeting their 2014-2015 sector-specific milestones and Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) goals.

The Chesapeake Bay restoration operates through a measurable accountability framework. This framework includes the WIPs, annual progress reviews, and two-year milestones. The purpose of these reviews are so that jurisdictions have the opportunity to adaptively manage their plans and make necessary adjustments to stay on track within this framework and at the midpoint assessment. The current assessments (linked below) are the annual progress reviews that occur at the half-way point between the two -year milestones and in 2016, EPA will conduct the next two-year milestone review: that is EPA will evaluate whether each of the 7 jurisdictions and the federal agencies achieved their 2014-2015 milestones and have commitments to achieve the Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) partnership goal of practices in place by 2017 that would achieve 60% of the nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment reductions necessary to achieve water quality standards in the Bay compared to 2009.
