About Us
Our leading-edge resources and programs are dedicated to making the science of watershed restoration accessible and actionable while cultivating community and training the next generation of stormwater professionals. Together, we’re advancing watershed sustainability and resilience.
Today, our network includes 6,000+ stormwater professionals working to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay.

Our Mission
The Chesapeake Stormwater Network promotes more sustainable, resilient, and equitable stormwater management across the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. We support and connect a growing network of professionals to advance better stormwater planning, design, and maintenance through innovative training and technical resources designed to meet the needs of the diverse communities across the watershed.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
The Chesapeake Stormwater Network was founded on the belief that strong partnerships, shared learning, and community-driven innovation lead to more sustainable, resilient, and equitable stormwater management. We recognize that meaningful environmental outcomes depend on inclusive processes and the diverse people and perspectives that shape them.
CSN is committed to centering diversity, equity, and inclusion across our culture and our programs. We offer most workshops and webinars free of charge to ensure broad access, and we deliver many programs virtually to reach practitioners across the region. We also invest in workforce development – most notably through CUSP – which supports a wide range of students and early career professionals entering the stormwater field.
To better understand and support our Network, we conduct a biennial Network Demographics Survey that helps us track both experiential and demographic diversity across the stormwater sector. The survey provides valuable feedback that guides how we expand our reach, improve our programs, and create more meaningful professional opportunities. The most recent survey was conducted in 2024 and can be viewed here.
We are committed to empowering our staff, board, partners, and network members to engage with and learn from a broad spectrum of perspectives — strengthening our collective capacity to meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve.
