Developed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, this design specification (Version 1.9, March 1, 2011) provides guidance on designing wet pond systems that maintain a permanent pool of water to reduce stormwater runoff and improve water quality through sedimentation, biological uptake, and extended detention. It helps designers size pond storage, configure forebays and outlet structures, and incorporate maintenance and safety considerations to effectively manage runoff from larger drainage areas.
