Urban Stream Monitoring Programs in Virginia

November 17, 2020

Urban streams are highly influenced by development, resulting in altered hydrology, increased sediment and nutrient loads, and degraded biological conditions. In response, local governments across Virginia have invested heavily in stormwater management, stream restoration, and monitoring programs to better understand watershed conditions and evaluate the effectiveness of these actions. This webcast provides an overview of intensive urban stream monitoring efforts in Virginia led by the U.S. Geological Survey in partnership with local governments and nonprofit organizations.
