Shoreline Management Practices Expert Panel Report

This expert panel report (amended 2019) develops Chesapeake Bay Program crediting protocols for shoreline management practices, establishing methods to estimate sediment and nutrient reductions associated with reducing tidal shoreline erosion. It concludes that prior credits were not scientifically defensible and introduces revised approaches linking pollutant reductions to shoreline erosion rates, project design, and location, along with requirements for verification and time-limited crediting.
