Developed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, this design specification (Version 1.9, 2011) provides guidance on designing dry swales as linear, vegetated stormwater practices that convey and treat runoff through shallow filtration and infiltration. It helps designers size channel geometry, select appropriate soil and vegetation conditions, and incorporate check dams or underdrains where needed to improve water quality treatment and runoff reduction.
