Developed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, this design specification (Version 2.0, 2013) provides guidance on designing bioretention systems that use engineered soil media, vegetation, and storage layers to treat and reduce stormwater runoff. It helps designers size and configure bioretention practices to improve infiltration, filter pollutants, and manage runoff volume in both new development and retrofit settings.
