Developed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, this design specification (Version 1.8, 2011) provides guidance on the design of stormwater filtering practices such as sand and organic media filters that remove pollutants through sedimentation, filtration, and adsorption processes, useful in small, highly impervious sites. It helps designers size filter systems, select appropriate media configurations, and integrate pretreatment and flow distribution components to improve water quality treatment in constrained urban settings.
