Design Spec: Wet Swale, 2010

Developed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, this design specification (Version 1.9, 2011) provides guidance on using wet swales as linear, shallow stormwater treatment systems that combine conveyance with water quality improvement, acting as a cross between a wetland and a swale. It helps designers design and size swales that maintain saturated conditions to promote sedimentation, biological uptake, and microbial activity while safely conveying runoff through low-gradient landscapes.
